Track Parent Meeting Recap

We had our biggest Parent Meeting turnout ever to kick off the 2012 season! Thanks to all who attended! We covered a LOT of information. Here are some highlights and reminders:


  • Shoe Night @ Runners Roost in Lone Tree Wednesday, March 7 starting @ 5:30 -- discounts on shoes for our athletes.

  • Our first meets are THIS WEEK. Athletes are expected to stay and cheer on their teammates until the end of the meet.
    • JV at ThunderRidge Friday @ 3:30 pm - Athletes ride the bus there and need parents to drive them home. 
      • (DIRECTIONS:  North on University; West on Wildcat Reserve Pkwy, South to School -- NOTE: Several miles past Mountain Vista HS)
    • Varsity at Sports Authority Stadium Saturday -- Field Events start at 8:30, Running Events start at 9:00. Arrive one hour before start time. No bus.
      • (DIRECTIONS: East on Lincoln Avenue (continue past I-25) - Turn South on Chambers).
    • HRHS is responsible for filling a total of 4 volunteer slots at Saturday's meet for the shot put and discus events -- 2 slots are from 9am-noon; 2 are from noon-3pm. This is a great opportunity for athletes who are new to our program to team up with a parent to cover one of the time slots and get a taste of what a varsity level competition looks like!   • Review our 2012 Team Handbook with your athlete. 
    • Pay special attention to nutrition tips, ideas for eating at meets, and tips for how to be a supportive parent for your track athlete.
    • Please print out and sign the final page (Covenant) and have your athlete bring it to his or her coach at practice this week.

  • Join our Booster Club! Dues are $60 and 100% helps us provide equipment, uniforms,  2 coaches' salaries, and other program needs. Click here to give online through PayPal (you can pay with a credit card if you don't have a PayPal account).

  • Get your gear on! On that same link (go on....click over there) you can see all our Spirit Gear. Order and pay online, and we'll deliver items to your athlete at practice. If you've recently found new HR Track gear in your athlete's dirty laundry, he or she has brought home gear on an IOU. We'll be in touch soon via individual emails to help you settle up on that.

  • Our first Team Pasta Dinner is scheduled for March 16 @ 6:15pm. We have co-hosts signed up to help but still need a host home. Parents of returning athletes, please consider hosting this fun team building event for our athletes. Contact Jim Kientz to sign up for this date or check on other open dates.

  • Our athletes will be practicing over Spring Break every weekday morning 10am - noon. If your athlete will be leaving town for the break, he or she should see the coach for workouts.

  • Finally, mark your calendar now for May 5, the Highlands Ranch Memorial Track Meet hosted by our team. Last year, coaches from 14 schools raved about the quality of our meet, and our parent volunteers were the reason the meet was so incredible. This year the meet will be even bigger, and we need your help to make it even better. Watch for details on how you can get involved.
