  • Coached multiple state champions, state medalists, and college recruits in long jump, triple jump, high jump and sprints/relays.

Dominic Douglass

Before coming to coach at Highlands Ranch, Coach Douglass coached for Arcadia High School while he was finishing his undergrad at Arizona State University.  There he helped coach the state champions for Division II Boys and the state runner up in the 800.

Aside from coaching, Coach Douglass was a seven time varsity award winner (3 cross country, 4 track), a state place winner for track, and was part of the group that set a Colorado record for most points scored at State by a distance team during his time at Highlands Ranch as a student. Coach Douglass is now currently teaching Social Studies at the school, coaching track and cross country and running marathons. He has coached individual state medalists and qualifiers as well as a State Champion 4x400 meter relay team.

Scott Aldridge 
Throws (2013-present)

Coach Aldridge was a thrower and played football in high school and college. His coaching experience includes both track and football at HRHS and other high schools.

At Ranch, he has coached one state champion and multiple state medalists and qualifiers in the throws.

Kim Turnage
Hurdles (2012-present)

Coach Turnage strives to help every athlete grow, both as a competitor and as a person of character. Her track and field experience includes competition in sprints, jumps, hurdles, and heptathlon at the age group, high school and Division I collegiate level. As a coach at Ranch, she has worked with state qualifiers in both the 300 meter hurdles and 110 high hurdles.

When she's not coaching, she works as a leadership consultant for a human resources consulting firm. Her son, Connor, was a 3-time Colorado 5A State Champion as a triple jumper for the Falcons. Her youngest son, Peyton, is a junior jumper at Ranch.

Megan Vassen
Distance (2017-present)

Before coming to Highlands Ranch High School, Coach Vassen was a track coach at Fruita 8/9. She specialized in working with the distance runners. She went to Clear Creek High School where she received 7 athletic letters (soccer, track, cross country ski team and softball.) She went to Mesa State  where she competed in track for a year before hurting her knee.

 In her free time, Coach Vassen enjoys running in races and running long distances. She is also an assistant cross country coach at Ranch.  She looks forward to working with the distance athletes this year!

David May 
Head JV Coach (2017-present) 

 Along with being the head JV Coach for HRHS Track, Coach May is the Head Football Coach at HRHS. He is a PE teacher with an emphasis on Power Weights
