  • Coached over 60 Division 1 athletes 
  • Linebacker and running backs coach for 2011 varsity conference championship quarterfinal football team at Ranch 
Coaching Accomplishments:
  • Earned 4 Coach of the Year Awards
  • Qualified 22 athletes for state in 2014 (with 16 placing)
  • Three athletes from the past two years have won top honors in the state of Colorado (three Denver Post 5A Athletes of the Year awards and three Colorado Gatorade Athletes of the Year awards)
  • Former athletes have participated on two Olympic teams, three Superbowl championship teams, and national championship teams in D1 and D3 football and wrestling. 
Coach Padjen's son Tim coaches football and track at Mountain Vista High School and daughter Koreen was a star rugby player at Colorado State University.

  • HRHS Head Volleyball Coach 200-2016 Continental League Coach of the Year in 2004, 2009, & 2012. 
  •  Class 5A Coach of the Year 2004 & 2008
  • Coached multiple state champions, state medalists, and college recruits in long jump, triple jump, high jump and sprints/relays.





Scott Aldridge 
Head JV Coach - Throws (2013-present)

Coach Aldridge was a thrower and played football in high school and college. His coaching experience includes both track and football at HRHS and other high schools.







Dominic Douglass
Distance (2015 - present)

Before coming to coach at Highlands Ranch, Coach Douglass coached for Arcadia High School while he was finishing his undergrad at Arizona State University.  There he helped coach the state
champions for Division II Boys and the runner up in the 800.

Aside from coaching, Coach Douglass was a seven time varsity award winner (3 cross country, 4 track), a state place winner for track, and was part of the group that set a Colorado record for most points scored at State by a distance team during his time at Highlands Ranch as a student. Coach Douglass is now currently teaching Social Studies at the school, coaching track and cross country and running marathons



Sandy Padjen 
Distance (2008-present)
  • In 2011 her distance runners scored 59 points in the state meet (a state record).  
  • Coached runners who have won 6 individual titles in the 1600 meters.  
  • In Illinois, her teams captured two state titles in cross country (and finished top 5 three other times).  
  • She has coached over 100 state qualifiers in track & field/cross country.  
  • Highlights of her career include Eleanor Fulton's eight state titles(state record for distance runners - El was also  named two-time Denver Post 5A athlete of the year and Colorado Gatorade Player of the Year) and Tyler Nelson's second place State finish in the boys 1600.   
  • Illinois Coaches Track and Field Distance Coach of the Year in 1999 
  • Sportswomen of Colorado Coach of the Year in 2011
  • In college competed in the NCAA cross country national championships for Western Illinois University and has qualified for five Boston Marathons. 
Coach Padjen's son Tim (now coaching at Mountain Vista) was a National Football League Scholar Athlete of the Year in Chicago and her daughter Koreen was a star rugby player for Colorado State.




Kim Turnage
Hurdles (2012-present)

Coach Turnage strives to help every athlete grow both as a competitor and as a person of character. Her track and field experience includes competition in sprints, jumps, hurdles, and heptathlon at the age group, high school and Division I collegiate level.

When she's not coaching, she works as a leadership consultant for a human resources consulting firm. Her son, Connor, was a 3-time Colorado 5A State Champion as a triple jumper for the Falcons. Her daughter, Arin, is a senior and son, Peyton, is a sophomore, both at Ranch.


Chandler Frigon
Sprints (2015 -present )

Coach Frigon ran for the Falcons from 2002-2006, and helped to earn a second place state finish in the 4x400 Relay.

After high school, Chandler went on to run at the University of Kansas, competing primarily in the 200 meter, 400 meter and 600 yard dash. At Kansas, Chandler was named Academic All Big XII First Team three times.

Since finishing his track and field career as an athlete, he attended law school at the University of Indiana and currently works as an attorney for an oil and gas company.





Dave Kriz

Coach Kriz loves Track, but in his free time he likes to run, hike, bike, climb, and kayak out in the wilderness with his family.


Dennis Sierra

David May
