Earlier Start Times for Liberty Bell

Liberty Bell will be our largest meet so far this season. Meet directors have allowed several additional teams to enter the meet this week. As a result, they have made start times earlier on both days.

If you are competing on either or both days this weekend, please see the entire revised schedule here.
  • On Friday, start times for both running and field events have been moved to 4:30 p.m.
  • On Saturday, field events start at 9 a.m. and running events start at 9:30 a.m.

Parking is always challenging at this meet, and that will be even more true this year with the increased number of teams. Please allow extra time to park and walk. Also be aware that there will be a gate fee for spectators.

Welcome to Week 2 of track season! If you thought Week 1 was busy, this week might redefine busy.

First, congratulations to all our athletes who competed in their FIRST meet of the season last week! We did not have any photographs for the meet (parents, please let us know if you would like to take photos and share them with the team on our Google Photos site), but here are results from:

Events This Week
We have THREE meets this week. To help parents and athletes keep track of who's going where, please see this summary of the registrations for this week's meets.

Again, we know this is a huge week for meets. Please consult the summary of registrations and let coaches know if you have any questions.

Also, we do encourage ALL ATHLETES to come to the Team Dinner on Friday night. This is a long-standing tradition for HRHS Track and has proven to be a great opportunity for team bonding. Meets, Fundraising, and Parent Volunteers

Thank you for your patience as the athletic office finalized our roster this week. We've been posting information on our website, but were unable to push it to email until our roster was finalized. Please read through this longer-than-usual email, as it contains a LOT of important information about the season.

Thank you to all those who attended the Parent Meeting on Monday night and Spike Night at Runners Roost on Tuesday.

  • If athletes still need spikes, Runners Roost will continue to offer a 15% discount to those who are part of our team.
Here's additional information for this week:

Meets

  • JV @ HRHS on Thursday 5/6 @ 3:30pm -- Athletes should go directly to the track after school. All athletes need to be at the meet. Those who are not competing will be running events. Click here for order of events.
  • Athletes often have questions about nutrition and how to pack food for a day-long meet. That and lots of other useful information can be found in our Team Handbook
  • We provide athletes with competition uniforms. Athletes provide their own warmer gear, and ideally that is HR Track gear. Click here for our online store where you can order HR Track gear to be delivered directly to you.

Fundraising

On Wednesday, athletes received fundraising contact forms that should be completed and returned at practice on Monday, May 10th. Click here for details on our fundraiser and additional copies of the contact form.

Help with Team Dinners

We have an immediate need for parents helps with Team Dinners this season.

Team Dinners are one of our most important opportunities for team bonding during the season. All athletes are invited.

A huge THANK YOU to the Lobojko Family for hosting our first Team Dinner on May 14th!!

We need parents to help provide food for May 14th and to host and/or provide food for our other Team Dinners on June 4th and June 10th.

Updates: Week of March 22

Welcome back after Spring Break! Here's what you need to know and do for the rest of March.

HRHS Winter Series #4

Unfortunately with the snow and the bad forecast for Wednesday, we have decided to cancel the last track meet on Wednesday. As we get closer to the season we will work on scheduling some low-key meets with other schools.

Rock Canyon Invite March 27

This Saturday (3/27), Rock Canyon will be hosting a track meet at Echo Park Stadium. Anyone is welcomed to participate. Here is the tentative schedule.

Coach Douglass needs to enter by Wednesday at midnight so please fill out this form ASAP if you want to participate. We cannot do last minute entries. Cost is $10 per event, per person.

Off-Season Workouts

As we get closer and closer to the season, it is important for all athletes who are not participating in another sport to be coming to our off-season workouts. We will now be meeting five days a week at 3:00 pm in the HRHS weightroom.

Registration

Registration is not open yet, but remember you need an updated physical before the first practice. Click here for more information on physicals.

National Letter of Intent
April 14th is the school's National Letter of Intent Day (aka Signing Day). Seniors, if you will be competing in track or XC next year (in college), please email Coach Douglass with your college and which coach you want to speak on your behalf at Signing Day.  For those that are signing, Coach Douglass will send a follow up email in about a week with more info.

Schedule Changes This Week

February 24 Meet Postponed

Looking at weather for this Wednesday and next Wednesday, we have decided to postpone our track meet that was originally scheduled for 2/24 this week. With snow and low temps predicted, it just doesn't make sense to host a meet.

We are rescheduling this meet for next week, Wednesday, March 3.

HRHS will be hosting three more meets this off-season on March 3rd, 10th, and 24th.

Sign Up Now for Pre-season Meets at HRHS

The CHSAA 2021 Track season officially starts in April, but HRHS Track and Field is excited to host four meets starting in February to help our high school athletes prepare for the season. We are hoping to give athletes a chance to get some good competition in, get some more times/marks for the help of recruiting purposes, and give them a chance to compete in some off-distance events as their training ramps up.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

1.  Distance runners should continue checking workouts in Google Classroom. Athletes in all other events should reach out to their event coaches for workouts.

2.  We are providing HRHS Track athletes with the opportunity to sign up for meets early! Later this week, we will be sending meet information out to other area high schools. We want our athletes to sign up NOW so we can be sure you have a slot in your events. Entries are limited. So sign up today!

More Information on Meets:

All meets will be hosted at Highlands Ranch High School. Laned events will have four heats, distance events will have two heats. We will have a  maximum of 24 athletes per event, per gender.

Registration will be on a first-come, first-serve basis. Preregistration is required (see sign up links below), and the registration cost is $10 per athlete, per event, payable at check-in. High school athletes only.

Athletes will need to arrive at the meet and check in but will not be let onto the track until their event is about to start. Warmups will need to take place outside of the track. Athletes may warm up at Cresthill, in the parking lot, or on the soccer fields (when available). Athletes will need to bring $10 per event cash or check (payable to HRHS Track) to the meet. We will do temperature checks and health screenings before checking them in.

Events will be hand-timed but will be uploaded to Milesplit. Below you will find the schedule and sign up for each meet.
