A Message from HRHS Athletic Director, Darren Withey

We have received uniform and fundraising packet returns from about 2/3 of HRHS Track athletes. THANK YOU!

If you have not yet returned your items, please review this message regarding athletic returns from HRHS Athletic Director, Darren Withey.

Dear Athletes and Parents,

We know that you have received a much more detailed email from Dr. Page, but the Athletic Department and your coaches wanted to make sure uniforms and fundraising packets/collected funds are returned to HRHS along with your other materials.

FOR ALL ATHLETIC UNIFORMS AND FUNDRAISING MATERIALS:

All uniforms and fundraising materials will be collected by our athletic and administrative staff at the third set of designated tables at HRHS.

  • Please have all items in a sealed plastic bag.
  • Please make sure uniforms are washed and 100% dry before bagging to avoid mold.
  • Students must turn in their own uniforms and fundraising materials.
  • Please attach a piece of paper with the athlete's name, sport, and sizes of the uniform or equipment returned to the outside of the bag.

Athletes' names will be checked off by staff, and bags will be placed in a box for each sport.

NOTE: This procedure is important to follow as we have a strict no-contact policy in place. If you have to write your name on the bag WHILE in line, it will interrupt the flow of the traffic that is set up. We will NOT have paper or pens to distribute during this process.

As a reminder, please see the detailed schedule below:

Refunds will be issued in full to those who paid. We wanted to make sure that you all didn't get charged for the season.

WORKOUTS AND REMOTE COACHING

Our coaches are updating online workouts through mid-May so that our athletes can continue to improve, even though doing so is more challenging with social distancing. Reminder to all athletes to work on soft surfaces (maintained fields or unpaved trails) as much as possible.

Lifting at Home

Falcons,

With gyms being closed we have written workouts that everyone can do at home.

Here are the at home workouts

Here are the running workouts - these will be updated soon as CHSAA has postponed the season again until April 18th. However, the coaches are still optimistic that we will have a season this year - although obviously shortened.

Finally, please fill out this form to input your results from the JV meet. This will ensure that we have the most up to date records possible.

We truly do miss you all and can't wait to see you once we are back at school/practice!

Track Season Suspended -- Workouts

Good morning Falcons,

CHSAA has suspended the track season until April 6th. What this means is that there will be no practices or meets until that point. However,  you are allowed to continue working out, just with no coaches. In order for us not to fall behind and to keep up our fitness, below are workouts and a lifting schedule. If you are able to, please do these workouts. Students are also talking about working out together, which is allowed.

Workouts

This is tough, but everyone is in the same boat as us. We just have to stay positive. The season is by no means over.

Please reach out to your coaches if you have any questions. You may personally contact Coach Douglass if needed - DDouglass@dcskd12.org, 303-956-3321 (please text and include your name if you're reaching out over phone).

If anyone has any financial troubles because of the closing of businesses or lack of free/reduced lunches please reach out to Coach Douglass directly.

JV Meet Yesterday-
Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone for being so flexible and helpful! We were able to not only compete in the meet but host three other schools with help from the athletes.

Please fill out this form with your name and times from yesterday so we can fully update our records.

Spring Break Schedule Changes

Today we learned that DCSD is canceling all out of state student activities, including our planned Spring Break Arizona trip. If you have questions about the cancellation please contact Coach Douglass.

Please note these changes for March 16-21:

  • PRACTICE -- Monday - Friday (March 16-20) @ 9-11 am for both JV and Varsity
  • ADDITIONAL VARSITY MEET -- Saturday March 21 @ Echo Park
We know many student athletes and their families have travel plans for Spring Break. Here's what you can expect:
  • Athletes who are in town are expected to be at practice.
  • We will provide workouts to do independently to those athletes who are out of town.
  • We will communicate with athletes at practice to understand who is in town and available for relays and other events for the March 21 meet. Parents, please make sure your student athletes know your family's Spring Break plans so they can communicate accurately with coaches.

Week 1: JV @ HRHS, Varsity @ League Relays (Echo Park)

Thank you to all the parents that attended the pre-season parent meeting! As of right now we have close to 100 kids signed up for track. Make sure that everyone knows it is not too late to sign up.

The week ahead
  • Tuesday- quick meeting after practice for those going to Arizona. This meeting we will decide who is running what, who is rooming with who and go over basic rules.
  • Thursday- JV Meet @ HRHS. Since this is our first meet of the year, a lot of athletes will be competing here since it is the first meet of the year. EVERYONE is expected to stay the whole time. Varsity runners will help run the meet and JV runners need to stay until the end of the meet as well and help after they're done running.
  • Saturday- Varsity relays at Echo Park Stadium. We will know later this week who is running what events. Here is a schedule of events.
Further Ahead
We need a lot of volunteers in the coming weeks. Between team dinners and our meet, we NEED YOUR HELP. Please follow this link to sign up

Spring Break- We will have practice Monday-Wednesday from 9-11.  Those in town are expected to come, those that aren't will receive workouts and need to follow it.
